Dear Member

Sadly the LTA have now confirmed that the new restrictions put in place by the government mean all indoor and outdoor tennis facilities must close for the duration of the lockdown and therefore no tennis activity is permitted. A strong case was made to the government to allow singles tennis to continue, but as the decision has not gone in our favour we need to abide by it. We will therefore be closing the Clubhouse and the courts will be locked from Thursday 5 November, tomorrow. We hope that the restrictions will come to an end, as planned, on Wednesday 2 December and we can resume play on Thursday 3 December, and we will keep you updated on this nearer the time.

Kevin will continue to maintain the grounds, and Alison and Nicola will be working from home as much as possible to keep up to date with the administration of the Club. James will be planning for next term on a reduced hours basis, but sadly with the bar closed Kari will be furloughed as before. All of these arrangements will continue to be reviewed as we find out more about when these new restrictions will be relaxed.

It was great to see so many members enjoying the late autumn sunshine yesterday and today, and to see the courts all full. Hopefully the weather will be as kind to us in December when we are able to re-open again. In the meantime please keep safe, and I look forward to seeing you back at the Club in the run-up to Christmas.

Thank you all for your continuing support and loyalty over this difficult year.

Best Wishes
Di Winters
