TWLTC Covid Rules                        Updated 29 November 2020

Update regarding Wednesday 2nd December 2020.  Latest LTA Guidance

The guidelines set out below are based on the Government’s latest announcement and the latest LTA Guidance .   Members are reminded that these rules are put in place to reduce the risk of contracting Covid-19. This risk cannot be removed, and you therefore play at TWLTC within these rules at your own risk. Government guidelines will change, and you should follow these guidelines at all times. The current Government guidelines can be found here.

General Update to our Covid-19 Rules

Last Thursday we received confirmation that the entire county of Kent will be placed in Tier 3 when the current lockdown ends on Wednesday 2 December. In order to ensure we comply with the additional restrictions arising from this I would like to confirm what this means for the Club and our members when the club re-opens on Wednesday.

Playing at the Club

Due to government restrictions on travel into and out of Tier 3 areas, members who do not live in Kent, but in a Tier 2 area such as East Sussex cannot play at the Club at this time. I know personally how disappointing this will be for some of our members, after the excitement of thinking we would be back on court again, but hopefully it will only be for a few weeks. This is a restriction imposed by the government, and confirmed by the LTA and I would ask that you adhere to it.

Coaching at the Club

Adult coaching: can continue for those who live in Kent only. If you live in a Tier 2 area you are not allowed to travel to the Club for coaching.

Junior Coaching: can continue for all participants as there is a travel exemption for U18 organised/supervised tennis activity. Please only have one parent/guardian supervising if required, and please be advised the Clubhouse is only available for the use of toilets and you should not wait in the foyer.

Organised Mix-ins

These can continue to take place for members who live in Kent only, please sign up on the Events page as before. The floodlights will be put on by James or one of the coaches.

Club Tournaments

James will review this and advise you if any further extensions will be made, mindful that extending this round too much will impact on the next round for the Winter Slam and Ladies Boxes in particular.

The office will be closed. Nicola, Alison and James will be working from home although they may be in the office on occasion. Please avoid visiting them in the office unless you have spoken with them beforehand and arranged this. They can continue to be contacted by email or phone (please leave a message).

Floodlight Tokens

If you need floodlight tokens please contact the office in advance, please do not just turn up. Nicola and Alison will arrange for you to collect them and put them on your account or you can pay by card in advance. If you could buy enough for the initial 2-week period that would be appreciated.

The Clubhouse will be open for the use of the toilets only. Please do not wait in the foyer area. Please wear facemasks whilst in the building as before.

Sadly, the bar like all hospitality venues in a Tier 3 area, will not be able to open at this time. The upstairs bar area, including the coffee machine, will be closed to all members too.

Court Bookings – please ensure you continue to list all players on a court when making a booking, this is important for us to comply with NHS Test and Trace requirements.

Draggers – there are now draggers on every court. Please ensure you drag the clay courts after use and return the equipment to the hook at the back of the court, there is only one hook per court placed to enable Kevin to blow surplus sand back into the court, rather than allowing it to wash into the drains.

Bins – there are bins on the courts, please make use of them or take your litter home. The amount of rubbish left on courts seems to be increasing, and Kevin does not have time to clear up after people. Also please could you ensure you remove your unwanted tennis balls from the courts.

Behaviour on Court – whilst the Club Championships are bringing out the competitive spirit in us all, please remember that this is a family Club and there is no place for aggressive behaviour or swearing on court.

When retrieving a ball from an adjacent court please ensure you wait until the end of the point/game so as not to interrupt others playing.

Smoking and Vaping – neither is allowed on court
