Our first ever ‘OPEN’ Pickleball tournament at TWLTC on Saturday 22 August 2026 was a resounding success with 60 entrants competing for 4 trophies, Cup, Plate and Bowl.
Players came from all over the country including a couple from Scotland, Dartford, North London, Hertfordshire, West Sussex and many from across Kent & Sussex.
The day was absolutely beautiful, the odd gust of wind to add spice to the tournament and yes, no rain to be seen.
The feel and the vibe of the day was super competitive, extremely courteous and friendly and most of all enjoyable for all involved and the feedback was exactly how we would have liked; ‘We’ll be back next year’, ‘amazing well organised’, such lovely people’ and ‘done is such a good way, cannot fault the organisation’.
The OPEN Mens competition was won by Andy G & Laurence M without dropping a game, extremely well done to them.
The Mens 2.0-3.5 was won by Laurence R & Raphael R, first time playing Pickleball but took to it like a duck to water and only lost one game on their way to the trophy, extremely well done to them too.
The Womens 2.0-3.5 was won by Sue T & Jackie A after only losing one game in the Round Robin stage but upping their game in the finals to win against Henrietta H and Glynis M and secure the top spot.
The Mixed Doubles was contested by 12 teams, 6 in each division, 5 games each in the Round Robin stages and then finals in Cup, Plate and Bowl finals.
A very tightly contested competition with many games going to sudden death points at 21-20 but always in the highest, most courteous spirit of the game and our winners were as follows:
CUP: 1st – Kasey B & Greg A, 2nd – Shu C & Wendy A, 3rd – Lisa C & Tom W
Plate: 1st – Sharon W & Paul T, 2nd – Hosp & Gostt, 3rd – Dante T & Jackie A
Bowl: 1st – Gary C & Irene C, 2nd – Alanna H & Dimitri H, 3rd – Karen M & Andrew H
