Junior Coaching

Adam and the coaching team endeavour to create a unique coaching programme for TWLTC members which ensures players of all abilities progress through three different pathways: Club, Stars, and Academy.

Each stage is tailored around the individual player’s needs, to best support and guide them through their development. Whether the player follows the Club, Stars, or Academy route, they will benefit from having their own Development Pathway all the way from Red up to U18s.

Club

Club is for players looking to train once a week. It is very popular with the majority of our players, covering all aspects of tennis with fun games and engaging drills

Stars

Stars is for players looking to take their tennis to the next level by training twice a week. Players are also starting to compete both internally and externally.

Academy

Academy is invitation-only and for players looking to take their tennis to a more serious level by attending two to three groups a week. These players are also regularly competing both internally and externally.

Red Ball

Ages 4 to 7 can enjoy sessions from 4.30pm – 5.30pm most weekdays, Saturdays and Sunday mornings. This is fun-led tennis coaching, offering an early introduction to the sport – learning how to serve, rally and score with a slow, light ball, as well as learning the movement and co-ordination skills needed for tennis. In this age group, we teach kids to love the game.

Orange Ball

Ages 8 and 9 are in this group. With a slightly harder ball, we start to go into more technical and tactical tennis. The courts are bigger and wider than red but still not full-sized. Still focussing on fun and engaging coaching, we look to really start seeing each child grow as a player with a more rounded game and learn a wide range of techniques and tactics.

Green Ball

This accommodates children aged 10. This year is spent on the full court, teaching the children more in-depth tennis techniques/tactics and encouraging them in very active sessions. This is achieved with lots of drills as well as rallying with each other. All our sessions encourage fair play and good behaviour on and off court.

U12, U14, U16 and U18

These sessions are played with ordinary yellow tennis balls and follow detailed coaching plans for the term. Each coach has a planned teaching programme and will be constantly giving feedback to all groups. Our philosophy is to maintain fun-led coaching in a professional environment; giving everyone the opportunity to reach their full potential.

Adult Coaching

TWLTC offers a very popular and lively adult coaching programme catering for all abilities from absolute beginner to advanced players. Our group coaching is offered morning and evenings during the week.

Our adult programme caters for all levels starting from the absolute beginners to the advanced club player. The programme is built by different stages:

Beginner – This is for players that have very little knowledge of the game and are very new to sport. This is where you will learn all the fundamentals to get out on court and playing in both doubles and singles.

Improvers – This area of our programme are for those rusty racket players, those that have played tennis before but have has a break for sometime and needing to polish up on those skills they once had. Not only does this stage allow you to re-find you old game but also build on the fundamentals.

Intermediate – These sessions are aimed at low to mid team players and strong social players.

Advanced – Our advanced level groups are for players who regular compete in internal leagues and external team matches. These players will have strong fundamentals both technically and physically.

These stages allow us to try and tailor the teaching to each level and enable players to develop all aspects of their game from technical to tactical. These are taught in a variety of styles from drills to open match play. All our sessions are fun and social but with a real drive for improvement and intensity.

Cardio Tennis

Cardio tennis is a new way to stay in shape and work your muscles – and pick up some tennis skills along the way. This is an engaging group fitness program featuring the heart pumping effects of tennis drills, games, and skills delivering the ultimate full body and calorie burning aerobic and anaerobic workout. Using drills and exercises based on tennis, these sessions burn calories like crazy. Short bursts of speed, agility and movement across the court and up to the net are combined with circuit and resistance training, helping the body experience similar benefits to classic interval training. Coaches also feed an array of balls which help build core strength as you set yourself to receive the ball.
