Adam and the coaching team endeavour to create a unique coaching programme for TWLTC members which ensures players of all abilities progress through three different pathways: Club, Stars and Academy.
Prices are charged per session and we expect a commitment of a term.
Club is for players looking to train once a week. It is very popular with the majority of our players, covering all aspects of the tennis with fun games and engaging drills.
Stars is for players looking to take their tennis to the next level by training twice a week. Players are also starting to compete both internally and externally.
Academy is invitation only for players looking to take their tennis to a more serious level by attending two to three groups a week. These players are also regularly competing both internally and externally.
Each stage is tailored around the individual player’s needs, to best support and guide them through their development. Whether the player follows the Club, Stars or Academy route, they will benefit from having their own Development Pathway all the way from Red to U18.
Ages 4 to 7 can enjoy sessions from 4.30pm – 5.30pm most weekdays, Saturdays and Sunday mornings. This is fun-led tennis coaching, offering an early introduction to the sport – learning how to serve, rally and score with a slow, light ball, as well as learning the movement and co-ordination skills needed for tennis. In this age group, we teach kids to love the game.
Ages 8 and 9 are in this group. With a slightly harder ball, we start to go into more technical and tactical tennis. The courts are bigger and wider than red but still not full-sized. Still focussing on fun and engaging coaching, we look to really start seeing each child grow as a player with a more rounded game and learn a wide range of techniques and tactics.
This accommodates children aged 10. This year is spent on the full court, teaching the children more in-depth tennis techniques/tactics and encouraging them in very active sessions. This is achieved with lots of drills as well as rallying with each other. All our sessions encourage fair play and good behaviour on and off court.
These sessions are played with ordinary yellow tennis balls and follow detailed coaching plans for the term. Each coach has a planned teaching programme and will be constantly giving feedback to all groups. Our philosophy is to maintain fun-led coaching in a professional environment; giving everyone the opportunity to reach their full potential.
We encourage all our juniors to compete outside their group coaching whether that be fun internal matches or more formal regional competitions.
The LTA website offers a vast amount of information for juniors to start competing. Further details can be found here.
Every Friday during term time we run our very popular fun Club Night for Junior Members for ages 4 – 10 and 11 – 19.
Our juniors enjoy music on court with the coaches offering light-hearted tennis-led games.
The bar is open for adults to enjoy refreshments with burgers, hotdogs, chips, salad, homemade soup and toasties on offer and much more!
Ages 4–11 from 4pm – 5pm
Ages 12–19 from 5pm – 6.30pm
All Club Night attendees must be members. Click here to Join Us.
Individual tennis lessons are often crucial for a player’s progress in tennis, allowing players to choose a specific area of focus and work at their own pace. TWLTC has a great coaching team available for coaching throughout the week. Click here to read more about our coaches
TWLTC has now implemented a “Buddy Hitting” programme. This gives players the opportunity to have additional hitting time with a more experienced player at a reduced cost.
Our buddy hitters can provide more practice time for juniors and many work alongside the main coaches to help in the development of the player. For more information please contact admin@twltc.co.uk
